Achievements

The Norwegian regional newspaper Hamar Arbeiderblad digitized their entire newspaper archive in 2012. Zissor handled the whole project – scanning 13 tons of paper from the years 1924 to 2017, the equivalent of approximately 700 bound books, at the office of our scanning partner.

La Stampa, a large newspaper from Torino, Italy, was digitized using the Zissor Content System. A partner used our software with optical character recognition (OCR) to automatically generate and manually tag more than 22 million from 2.1 million pages in the archive for 1867-2010. In doing so with Zissor software, all metadata were exported to a custom XML designed for the project. Scans were done from microfilm. The archive is available at.

The Media Conversion Centre at the Riksarkivet MKC national archive in Fränsta, Sweden, acquired the Zissor Content System for the digitization of old Swedish newspapers and ongoing digitization each day of all newspapers currently published in the country. The centre uses Zissor’s software, with optical character recognition (OCR) and automatic article recognition, to digitize up to 50,000 pages every day.

The Cision UK Gorkana Group (previously ‘Durrants’ and ‘Gorkana Group’) of the UK has been using the Zissor Media System for the production of press clippings since 2000. Running 24/7 for nearly 20 years, the system by now has processed more than 340 million pages.
